Testing:
State testing is over!! If your child missed any test days, make-up testing will take place for the remainder of the week. Also, Algebra 1 will take their EOC on Thursday. Thank you all for your cooperation and support!

Field Trip:
I apologize for the mistake in last week's email: permission slips are due TOMORROW not last week:) You will receive an email later this evening if we do not have a permission slip from your child. If you do not want your child to attend, please let Mrs. Krebs know via email (kkrebs@riverwalkacademy.com). Any child without permission to go will remain at Riverwalk and assist elementary classes.

We will leave Riverwalk Academy around 11:00. Once we get to Manchester Meadows, students will play games, eat lunch, and celebrate another successful year. Around 2:00 we will board the bus and return to campus.

Parents who indicated that they will pick their child up from Manchester Meadows may do so. There will be a sign out sheet.

If you volunteered to be a chaperone, more details will be send home on Wednesday! Thank you so much!!

Yes, the field trip is FREE!

If you have any other questions, please contact Ms. Sci Sci (csciandra@riverwalkacademy.com) or Mrs. Krebs (kkrebs@riverwalkacademy.com).

Eighth Grade Promotion Ceremony:
In honor of the eighth graders moving on to high school next year, we will have a promotion ceremony on May 24th. The ceremony will begin at 9:00 and last until 11:00. It will be held at the church across the street from the school.

We would love for parents to attend!

Please have your eighth grader "dress to impress" as we would like this to be a special event. Because of the field trip, he/she will need a change of clothes.

7th and 8th Grade Dance:
The student council planned an end of the year dance for our seventh and eighth graders! The theme is "Masquerade." The dance is this Friday, May 18th.

Tickets are sold online and at school from Tuesday through Friday. Advanced sale tickets cost $5, or you may purchase them at the door for $10.

Please contact Ms. McGrath (cmcgrath@riverwalkacademy.com) or Mrs. Tillman (dtillman@riverwalkacademy.com) for more information!

Social Studies:
Our POL is next Tuesday (May 22)!! We will begin around 9:00 am and finish around 11:00 depending on how many parents attend. We will have a practice POL on Monday (May 21) after which we will have a pizza party (Thank Mr. Vo for the idea:))! If your child has any dietary restrictions or allergies, please let us know if you will provide his/her food, or if we can order something special.

Due to the extent of this POL, students who are not prepared for the presentation will receive an alternative assignment to do in the front office. This assignment will be graded in place of the POL and thus will count as a test grade.

Math (Vo):
For 6th grade:  We will finish percentages and start on probabilities.  They will be creating a probability game and demonstrating it May 29th to each other within the classroom.

For Pre-Algebra:  We will start on our end of the year project.  The students will be receiving their project on their prospective days and a grading rubric.

For Algebra:  We will continue reviewing for the EOC this Thursday and the students will receive their end of the year project plus rubric this Friday.

Tutoring is no longer offered; however, students are able to visit during flex time for specific questions or to do make up work.

ELA:
8th Grade- We are working on a new PBL! It's a "Guide to Middle School" Students will be writing about their experiences and things that they've learned in their careers as Middle Schoolers. When they are done, they'll give it to the incoming 6th grade class!

6th: We will be working on a review packet for 6th grade. There will also be a kahoot in the works made by some of our students!

Dance:
Some classes are wrapping up tap while others are reviewing jazz and moving on to hip hop. We have a small group of 8th grade girls that would like to perform Wednesday evening at the art show. If that involves your student they will need to be here no later than 5pm. We also have a sepearate small group that would like to perform at the 8th grade promotion ceremony, more information to follow. With testing, POL, and end of the year celebrations we only have 4 more B days left of the year!

Careers:
It has been awhile since we met as classes because of testing. This week we will finish “What do I want to be when I grow up?” and begin our career action plans. All students are done with job shadow opportunities. If they have not presented their job shadow presentation yet, they will have an opportuniy to this week or next week. There are only 5 more A days left of the year due to testing, POL, and end of the year celebrations so let’s make them great!

Thank you all for a wonderful end of the year!!
